Wright State University Outdoor Resource Center Climbing Gym

A 23-foot tall wall for roped climbing (top and lead) and bouldering; a 14-foot tall dedicated bouldering wall which includes a spray wall, a peg board, and a hang board; and a variety of other training tools. Both walls have a natural feel which simulates real rock. The tall wall features several cracks which can be used to train anywhere from crimps to hand/foot jamming, an arete, slab, and a variety of overhang possibilities. The bouldering wall features some great natural holds from jugs to crimps and pinches. Both walls feature numerous natural pockets which are often incorporated into routes and problems, and can be used for traversing. The Climbing Gym at Wright State has a great and welcoming community that strives for education, inclusiveness, and fun. Routes/problems are added and rotated weekly. The Climbing Gym also offers numerous programs from belay training, climber education classes, and route setting training to trips, competitions, and speaker series/conferences. The Climbing Gym is the home of the Wright State University Climbing Club and Climbing Team. The use of the wall is open to current students and Recreation Center members for free. Guests can pay a $5.00 fee for a day-use pass which grants them access to the climbing gym, fitness center, pool, and other fitness/recreation studios. Membership options are also available. The Climbing Gym is a facility of the Outdoor Resource Center at WSU, which offers trips, gear rentals, and clinics for an affordable price. Wright State also co-hosts The Adventure Summit and Adventure Speaker Series on alternating years.
